Lou Heckler, professional speaker and friend, had an
experience recently while working in Chicago that he
shared with me. He wrote:
"I was working for Sears and had a hotel room about
20 minutes from the meeting site. A cab driver --
young fellow from Latvia who had come to Chicago three
years ago knowing no English -- picked me up at 7
a.m. "Will you need a ride back later today?" he asked.
"Well," I said. "I think my meeting planner has already
arranged a ride for me at 5:00."
"Let me check."
He called in to his dispatcher and the dispatcher
confirmed that I was scheduled. "Mr. Heckler would
like to cancel that reservation," he said.
"Wait a minute, " I stammered. "What are you doing?"
"I'm going to pick you up!" he smiled. "Now what
else can I do for you?"
"Er, I have a really early flight tomorrow morning
out of O'Hare. I need to be picked up about 4:45 a.m.!"
"No problem. I"ll be there."
He was -- and his deft, on-time cheerful handling
of my needs is an experience I'll never forget. The
next time I'm in Chicago, I'll call the American Cab
Company. No, wait a minute. I'll call him -- he gave
me his direct car phone!
Excellent service beats the competition every
time!!! A rapid, personal response will help you put
the pedal to the mettle and leave the competition
in the dust whenever you find yourself behind a Pink
Cadillac.
